Planned parenthood provides much more than abortions. They can offer tests, screenings, checkups, std tests etc.

  @jwolfsg1590Constitution  from California disagreed…7mos7MO

If that's the case, then why did most of Planned Parenthood shut down when Roe v. Wade was overturned?

 @C4mpaignDunbirdGreen from Delaware disagreed…7mos7MO

It's a common misconception that most of Planned Parenthood shut down after Roe v. Wade was overturned. In reality, Planned Parenthood continues to operate, providing a wide range of healthcare services. For example, they conduct over 650,000 cancer screenings and prevention programs annually. The organization is a vital resource for many, especially in areas where affordable healthcare is scarce.

If we focus on the impact of defunding, consider this: in Texas, a study found that after the state cut funding to Planned Parenthood, there was a significant increase in childbirth among low-…  Read more

If that's the case, then why did most of Planned Parenthood shut down when Roe v. Wade was overturned? It seems that their money maker was abortion.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas disagreed…6mos6MO

That still doesn't deny the fact that they do offer more than than just abortions, so I'm not sure what you think this argument is...

 @9FG45HB from Kansas agreed…7mos7MO

yes i agree planned parenthood is very needed to a lot of women who may be expecting or want birth control it isnt just about abortions it is focues on the health of women too in many ways

 @9FB67NT from California disagreed…7mos7MO

No, because that is not their main focus. They get money from the government for abortion. There are many other pregnancy centers that offer those tests without abortion.

 @R1ghtWingOcelot from North Carolina disagreed…7mos7MO

While it's true that Planned Parenthood provides abortion services, it's important to note that federal funding cannot be used for abortions except in cases of rape, incest or when the woman's life is in danger, as per the Hyde Amendment. Also, abortions make up only about 3% of the services Planned Parenthood provides, with the rest being crucial healthcare services like STI testing, cancer screening and family planning.

However, it is also true that there are other centers that offer similar services. But can we ensure that these centers are equally accessible and affordable to all, especially those in rural or low-income areas where Planned Parenthood often serves as the primary healthcare provider? What do you think can be done to improve access to these services outside of Planned Parenthood?

 @9FB67NT from California corrected…7mos7MO

it's important to note that federal funding cannot be used for abortions except in cases of rape, incest or when the woman's life is in danger, as per the Hyde Amendment.

You are completely correct that it is only used for rape, etc. But most woman claim rape, incest, etc they cannot fathom bringing a child into the world and claim these things to justify getting an abortion. Thus giving planned parenthood the money from the government.

 @9FLKWD2  from New York disagreed…7mos7MO

Planned parenthood offers more than just abortions and lifesaving to those who don't have insurance. planned parenthood offers all kinds of health checkups! Even if a woman went to go get an abortion that is her choice!

 @9FM6J6S from Georgia agreed…7mos7MO

It's important to recognize that Planned Parenthood provides comprehensive healthcare services beyond abortions, and for many individuals, it is their primary source of healthcare. People seek a variety of services there, and each person's healthcare choices and needs should be respected.

 @9FM84VD from Colorado agreed…7mos7MO

I agree with this comment, it allows for all types of advantages to not only young and old parents, but people who should not even be parents (under prepared teenagers). It builds an overall buffer in the risk of pregnancy.

  Deleteddisagreed…7mos7MO

Less than 3% of abortions are used for the mother's physical well-being and the well-being of the child. It should be abolished, but at the very least be funded by donations and not by the government/taxpayer's dollars.

 @9FM5TWQ from New York agreed…7mos7MO

I wholeheartedly agree with the comment about Planned Parenthood funding. Supporting Planned Parenthood is crucial for ensuring that people have access to essential healthcare services, including preventive care, screenings, and family planning. Their dedication to offering a wide range of healthcare options, regardless of an individual's income or insurance status, is commendable.

 @9GFTD6T  from Connecticut disagreed…6mos6MO

Women should have the right to their bodies and shouldn't be forced to bare children they don't wish to have especially because it can cause child abuse or even suicide. Motherhood is a very difficult thing and should be a choice rather than a forced role.

 @9GFVKNKReform from Virginia agreed…6mos6MO

Yes, but it's not only because of possible child abuse or even suicide. The argument about abortion boils down to basic human anatomy which should always be granted regardless of possible consequences. Moreover, Planned Parenthood doesn't only provide abortion services, and thus, one has to consider the significance of furthering access to sex education, STD testing, and birth control.

 @9GFXMCW from Virginia agreed…6mos6MO

Yes as many of these mothers to be are due to the result of rape which they did not consent with so they should be given a choice to keep the baby or not

 @9GFV63S from Virginia agreed…6mos6MO

i agree with this because at the end of the day its no ones buisness what someone wants to do with their bodies. if someone isnt ready for a kid you cant force them even if they made a mistake.

 @9GFY97J from Virginia agreed…6mos6MO

yes i do agree with this because motherhood should be a gift not a curse that a person has deal with the rest of their lives.

 @9GF5GQV from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

Planned Parenthood does many helpful things like provide sex education, contraceptives, pelvic exams, Pap tests, cancer screenings, and testing and treatment for vaginal infections. It’s not just abortions! Getting rid of planned parenthood funding means getting rid of free access to all the life enriching services I’ve listed.

 @9GFT2M8 from Maryland agreed…6mos6MO

Lowering funds on Planned Parenthood Funding would be detrimental to reproductive health, especially for women.

 @9GF74K5 from Kentucky agreed…6mos6MO

Getting rid of planed parenthood funding would get rid of many other things then just abortions. I also think that men or other people who don't have a vagina or uterus should decision on sex education, or medical help for women.

 @9GGP4KJagreed…6mos6MO

Planned parenthood is a much needed resource. It helps all young people with more than just abortions. They help with sex education, pelvic exams, Pap tests, and so much more. And people need to understand that its not inappropriate to talk about these things, but its educational. And a human need, its all normal and most people go through these things. So yes all of planned parenthood needs to be funded.

 @9GH534JDemocrat from California agreed…6mos6MO

I agree with planned parenthood because it teaches people things they might not be aware of and it's a great source for information.

 @9GYS2B9Socialist  from Illinois disagreed…5mos5MO

Planned parenthood is more than just abortion, it provides many resources to people who don’t have them.

 @9GYSSL2 from Arizona agreed…5mos5MO

Planned parenthood funding is a smart idea because then we'll have smart, more prepared teenagers entering the adult life. Which means they'll most likely have a kid. Responsibility, financially, is something teenagers aren't as aware of as they used to be. Bringing these planned parenthood classes back to school, with the new technology of our world, can bring better hope for the future. As well as just overall, being smart with money. More money can be spent on important things rather than just reckless spending.

 @9FVHYR9  from Georgia disagreed…7mos7MO

Nobody should be allowed to tell somebody what they can and cannot do with their bodies. Having a child has unimaginable life ling effect on the course of somebody's life. Forcing a pregnant person you don't even know to follow through with their pregnancy even if they were raped, financially unstable,13 years old, have health issues, or any reason that you may not know of can destroy their hopes and aspirations. All because you personally don't like the idea of "killing a fetus" because it may go against YOUR religion or YOUR beliefs. If somebody wants an abortion…  Read more

Planned Parenthood offers much more than just abortions. It keeps women safe from unwanted pregnancies by giving them birth control, and they even do std screenings. Just because there is one thing offered that people don't agree with, doesn't mean that they should take away all the other important healthcare they offer.

 @9GJ6N7Q from Michigan agreed…6mos6MO

I read only 3% of PP services are abortions. They provide low cost healthcare for women and birth control.

 @9H5GH6G  from Illinois disagreed…5mos5MO

I feel like women should have the choice it's her choice and her body some men should not force women to have a baby if she does not want to. Just because someone does not want you to that should mean they get to take away the women's rights to Abortion.

 @9H53D5M from New York agreed…5mos5MO

Whether or not the woman wants the baby should not allow them to kill said child, if they didn't want a child then the should have taken the necessary precautions to avoid the child being brought into existence.

 @9H5HD97 from Pennsylvania agreed…5mos5MO

I agree, especially since the men do not have to carry the baby for 9 months, have to go through the pain of childbirth, or have childbirth have the chance to kill you.

 @9H8K36WPeace and Freedom from California agreed…5mos5MO

I agree with this comment because if the government has an issue with the lives of fetuses being taken away, why don't they deal with the issue of gun violence that leads to shootings happening across the nation? Rape also comes onto this topic, if a victim were raped and got pregnant she should have the right to abort the child. If adopting a child aswell has many requirements, why would it also be okay for a teenager to be forced to have a child?

 @9H7VKJG from South Carolina agreed…5mos5MO

i feel like if a women can lay down and help make a baby she can take care of it, the man and woman are both grown they know what happenes when you do certain things a innicent baby should not lose therir life because they wobt to be selfish.

 @9G4X3C9 from Kansas disagreed…6mos6MO

I think they should continue to fund Planned Parenthood, because it’s not all about just abortions like the one question had satiated in the begging of this test. It offer tests, cancer screenings, daily checkups, etc. for woman.

 @9G4Y89P from New York agreed…6mos6MO

I agree with this statement. Planned parenthood is an organization that provides so much more than just abortions, including contraceptives and everything listed above.

 @9G4Y78ZWomen’s Equality from Idaho agreed…6mos6MO

Yes, Planned Parenthood should continue to be federally funded, it's essential in many areas to women's reproductive health.

 @9G4Y5WC from Minnesota disagreed…6mos6MO

No taxpayer money should support an organization that offers abortion. Most cities have donor supported agencies that offer the same supportive services to women. These agencies offer better solutions to unwanted pregnancies and excellent support for women seeking help. They show that alternate solutions along with proper support do work out better in the long run for the women and their babies. Perhaps the government support could be better used as grants to such agencies.

 @9G4YT37 from Idaho disagreed…6mos6MO

For all of history, life was created when the sperm entered the egg, but in recent years, after the idea of planned parenthood came about, that all changed and the government tired to change it to, The child is alive after several weeks after conception. But, we consider it life with animals right after they have sex and the sperm enters the egg, so, why is that different with humans?

 @9GDNR9P  from Kansas disagreed…6mos6MO

If we stop funding we are taking away women's rights period. There is no argument only excuses. The root of this all is abortion, some people believe it's murder. At the end of the day everyone is entitled to their opinion but regardless of what you think personally, if someone else is comfortable with it and it doesn't directly impact your life then you have no say in what they choose to do. Not everybody agrees with death row- where we the people (lmao) kill other people if we decide they deserve it. Planned Parenthood provides many other vital health services, such as cancer screenings, STD testing, and contraceptive services. If funding were to be withdrawn, these services might also be impacted, potentially disadvantaging those who rely on them.

 @9GDPDMTfrom Maine disagreed…6mos6MO

The government should opose these changes as it resluts in abortion which is murder and result in rapid changes in the society whihc will poisen the youth and make them belive this is a correct way of living which it isn't.

 @9GDP7HDSocialist from Pennsylvania agreed…6mos6MO

True! not to mention planned parenthood does more than just abortions. im trans and going through hrt with planned parenthood has been such an incredibly easily and affordable process. everyone deserves bodily autonomy.

 @williamkmIndependent  from Missouri disagreed…7mos7MO

Even if one opposes abortion, Planned Parenthood provides so many other essential services, including both male and female healthcare.
Regarding abortion, the issue concerns when personhood, not life, begins (we kill plants and animals all the time, and they are living; but they lack personhood). We know women have personhood, but does a foetus? It seems most criteria for personhood are not met by a foetus. And constitutionally, only those with personhood have rights. Making abortion illegal transgresses the woman's right of self-determination and deprives her of property rights to her body, giving more rights to an entity not meeting criteria for personhood over her rights. This suggests sexism.

 @9G2NN2G  from Georgia disagreed…6mos6MO

Firstly Planned Parenthood is not only an abortion clinic, it’s for checkups, for medications, medical procedures And so much more. Secondly planned parenthood takes safety on 100%, setting up personally passwords with their patients, frequent checks, and much more they genuinely care.

 @9G2PNY3 from Alaska agreed…6mos6MO

I absolutely do agree. I feel as though all their services are needed. I think their services which are provided without any religious beliefs blocking their services and not allowing the view of 'god' or others affect their work.

 @9G2Q5KQPeace and Freedom from Washington agreed…6mos6MO

i think if someone doesnt want their child the gov. shouldnt be able to take away the right to abort the child.

 @9G2PSGJ from Alaska agreed…6mos6MO

yes. planned parent hood is important to many people in america and saves the lifes of many already living individuals.
