Is there a time when you felt misunderstood or not listened to by someone with more authority, and how might countries feel the same way?

 @9HTVFJF from Pennsylvania answered…4mos4MO

Some countries may not have the views of their government nor citizens recognized, even if it's supposedly for the greater good. Best example is for Japan, forcing the emperor to step down as part of the peace agreement when the citizens and emperor didn't want that. Because of their hesitation, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed, and later on it was found that the emperor wasn't even responsible for most of the violence that had occurred.

I believe that some countries do use this with corrupt intentions in mind, it's not always easy to tell a difference between them. I believe if we had some way to hold these countries accountable or set aside programs to help regulate these to ensure no ulterior motives were in place.

How have you navigated respecting tradition while embracing progress, and what can countries learn from this balancing act?

 @9JT9Z9S from Minnesota answered…3mos3MO

Imperialism has been used throughout history by many different countries. Britain, Japan, The United States, and many more. All of these countries wrongfully treated the people who have resided in the countries that they have taken over. While Imperialism is wrong. We cannot say that our history would be the same if Imperialism never happened

 @9JT6MSJProgressive from Missouri answered…3mos3MO

I think that tradition that causes no harm to a society or its neighboring societies should always be preserved however tradition that might cause harm or has an affect on peoples lives whether its negative or not should be thrown out with. I think most countries can learn from this way of thinking but most dont care to hear or dont want to know or spend time on it.
