You burn it and then bury it, preferably in a national cemetery or at a VA Hospital or a local Boy Scout Camp. First, you cut the Blue ensign out, cut the stripes apart lengthwise, burn the former flag, and gather its ashes for burial. I do not consider arson to be an issue of freedom of speech or expression. It is arson and, to that extent, an assault on the identity of the United States bordering on insurrection at best and at worst treason. Still, I do not think making it illegal to burn the flag is a good idea. I think it is good to applaud when someone rescues an American Flag from being burned like that ball player a few years ago did. Him, I'd give him a medal for his act of courage and patriotism.
