Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." I do not choose this speech because of the color of his skin but rather because I couldn't agree with him more. Why should there be a difference for something that nobody can control? How would you feel if you were taught that short people were inferior to tall people? How could you control that? So how and why should it be different that black people are considered different…  Read morely from white people, and white from brown, and brown from black? We are all Americans...and we share common "unalienable rights." As a current high school student, I am appalled at the unequal treatment between and among races. A wise man once said, "In life, we are all dealt cards. Some are dealt harder cards than others, but none of the cards include race, height, or sex. These are part of the hand that holds these cards, and this hand cannot change...but the cards can!" It takes more than sitting down and crying about being unable to advance one's position in life: whether it be economic, education, criminal history...no point is beyond the point of no return. EVERYBODY can go out and bust their *** all week working; whether or not they make the most money in the world is up to them. Do you want to work a blue-collar job and be comfortable in life? or do you want to go to college and work a white-collar job? or do you want to run for office and change how our government runs? THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER; NEVER, EVER GIVE UP. I hope that one day I can pass this message onto my kids and they ask me, "Wasn't it always this way?" CHANGE YOUR MINDS, PEOPLE.
