Based on data from countries where abortion is illegal, it has been shown that making abortion illegal does not reduce the incidence of abortion. It only increases the number of unsafe abortions, which can lead to serious health complications and even death.

For example, in El Salvador, where abortion is illegal in all circumstances, women who are found guilty of having an abortion can be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison. Despite these strict laws, women still seek to terminate their pregnancies, often resorting to unsafe methods. In fact, unsafe abortions are one of the leading causes of maternal mortality in the country.
