I think people should be require to have a certificate and be educated about their firearm before the can purchase it and that there should be background checks. Hunting rifles and other hand guns I think are fine as long as throughout the purchasing process the person is deemed safe to handle them. Military grade weapons and automatic riles however should be banned from civilian use and have no place at schools or in neighborhoods.

I understand your point, but adding more regulations to the purchasing process of firearms is not the right way to go. It could make it harder for law-abiding citizens to acquire firearms, while criminals would still find ways to get them. Furthermore, requiring people to have a certificate and be educated about firearms could be expensive, and it might discourage gun ownership among low-income individuals. Instead of adding more regulations, we should focus on enforcing the existing laws and punishing those who misuse firearms.
