I'm not much of a debater, so all i'll say is I don't want to go to school under constant threat of shooters, just because you don't want to give up your guns that sit in a cabinet and do nothing.

The chances of an individuals school being a victim to a shooting, especial in a lower population area, is incredibly low that fearing it is irrational. And people who own guns don't just let them sit in a cabinet. Many people use it for every day carry and self defense.

That's an insightful point. In fact, in rural areas where police response times can be exceptionally long due to distance, having a firearm for self-defense is not just a right, but can also be a necessity. The 2013 CDC report on gun violence also mentioned that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals. What are your thoughts on the role of firearms in rural vs urban areas?
