No, the electoral college ensures representation of the whole country instead of just major cities
Without the electoral college, these 53 heavily urbanized areas would be making the decision for the entire country and this would marginalize rural and smaller communities.

That is what local elections are for. The representative(s) of our country as a whole should be decided by the country as a whole, based on what the most people want. If people in less populated areas want differently, then that's what their own local representatives are there for, but creating intentional disparities to diminish the voting power of the majority for the sake of a minority is blatantly anti-democratic. You are not "marginalized" for simply being in the minority opinion.
