Firstly, the prices of goods and services have gone up significantly anyway, even without a wage increase, so clearly that wouldn't have made a difference since it is literally already happening.
Secondly, if people's wages were increased, then that would mean they would be more likely to afford the already increased prices, so how is this anything but a net benefit..?
