The only reason we don't care about babies in the womb is emotional connection, they have the same if not more potential than an adult and killing them for convenience is nothing more than a tragedy. Even the worst birth circumstance is better than not being born and that's coming from someone with clinical depression.

No, we don't care about babies in the womb because they don't have a right to be there against the mother's consent to begin with. After all, no person has the right to use another person's body without their constant consent, right? So why then should the unborn have some kind of unique ability to overrule the bodily autonomy of the mother? Obviously they shouldn't, and they don't; if the mother doesn't, or no longer, wants them to use her body, then she has every right to stop it from doing so, even if that means it dies.
