Should the electoral college be abolished?
No, the electoral college ensures representation of the whole country instead of just major cities
Voting representation should be equivalent to population. The electoral college mathematically steals voting power from people who live in more heavily populated areas and unfairly gives more weight to less populated ones. Every vote should count for exactly one vote. In a system based on the popular vote, candidates would be more incentivized to support policies that actually win the favor of the majority of the country. The idea that the voting power of cities needs to be curtailed is based on a tribal idea that people who live in cities are somehow more likely to choose "wrong".
