That's actually a really small amount when you think about how many guns the US has, as well as how many gun owners there are. I'm also curious to know what percentage of gun owners are actually included in this number; considering recent estimates show around 72 million individual gun owners, that would suggest less than 2.5% of individual gun owners use their firearm for self-defense even once a year, although probably even less since I'm sure an even smaller percentage likely use it multiple times a year, whereas the overwhelming majority clearly never do. And of course that doesn't even address how the banning/restricting of gun ownership/use would affect these numbers in the first place, although every other nation should prove it would decrease...
