To say 'potential for life' is to deny this child's already months-old life. We do not (or should not) as a country hold that some lives are more important than others-- especially if we espouse any form of egalitarianism. All life in all stages ought to be protected. A pro-life sentiment does not go far enough to say the unborn need protection -- we must do more to assist the struggling single mother and to address the conditions that lead to cycles of poverty and despair in our country.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…5mos5MO

The way to address these conditions is to get the government to leave people the heck alone.

 @9JJCG8C  from Tennessee disagreed…3mos3MO

Its funny you say that because your stance on the issue is putting an unborn baby's life over a 13 year old who is pregnant from being raped by her uncle. Everyone cares about the unborn babies lives but when the baby is born its no longer your problem. The ban on abortions is about nothing other than control.

 @9GYXRV3Independent from Kentucky agreed…6mos6MO

I agree, and I would also like to add that we should invest in programs and policies to help parents in difficult situations so that they don't view abortion as the most "convenient" option

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…5mos5MO

We should just ban it

 @9HHK57Q  from Pennsylvania disagreed…5mos5MO

ban it

how would just baning it help the parent figure out what they want to do if the dad fina dip let him dip just let the mother do what she gona do if she dont want no baby let her have an abortion.

 @9GY74R3agreed…6mos6MO

I completely agree. Life should be of the utmost importance. Our Constitution declares life as one of our God-given rights. There are plenty of opportunities for adoption in the U.S., so if having a child is too much for a person to handle, adoption centers will take care of the child.

 @9GYJVFF from Idaho agreed…6mos6MO

I believe that you should be able to get abortion but only in rape, incest, or risk to mother or child

 @9GYBFKS from Tennessee agreed…6mos6MO

I agree with this comment. The logic of my body my choice is very poor logic as the child in the womb is genetically different from the parent, therefore, it is not the mother's body. The child did not choose to be born, but it has been given a chance for life, and the child deserves the chance for life just like everyone who has already been born has been given.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…5mos5MO

It's not just for you, it's for God. God is for life and He made that clear in the Bible.

 @9H53MC9 from Kansas disagreed…5mos5MO

Babies in the womb do not have the right to use another person's organs and nutrients as a life support system. Potential life has value, but don't give them more rights then every other citizen.

 @9H2N725disagreed…5mos5MO

Its simply women choice, There isn't any reason anyone should be denying women of abortions, its their body their choice. And in some circumstances the pregnant women may not suited to go through labor so its safer to have an abortion or they could die trying. Or in situations where someone may have been raped or assaulted and become pregnant. its unfair that someone else makes the choice to do that so a girl has to suffer with their decision.

 @9H2L7TG from Washington disagreed…5mos5MO

The women should have the deciding facor when it comes to abortion. As it is her body, it should be her choice. In cases of rape, it is not fair to the women who never decided to have the child in the first place. If the woman is not interested in having the child, who are we to allow this child to be born into the world unwanted? I do not believe that the woman should be treated as though she doesn't have a say in what happens to her body.

 @9H2H6XJIndependent from North Carolina disagreed…5mos5MO

From my perspective, yes this child who hasn't been born can be a ´¨fully functioning human being.¨ But you must consider the person giving the person life.

 @9H2CW9B  from Montana disagreed…5mos5MO

Consider this though, most women who get abortions are getting them for a very good reason. They realize that they will not be able to either care for a child or love it enough to give it a good life. These woman if forced to carry out their pregnancies would likely go into severe states of mental illness because of the burden now placed on them that they never wanted. You argue that upholding the sanctity of life is paramount but then you turn your backs when a woman who cannot financially handle the burden of a child is forced to work several jobs to even put food on the table. You don'…  Read more

The woman is already alive, so her life should be prioritized over a potential life. The child will never know the difference whether they are born or not, but this decision will affect the woman for the rest of her life.

 @9H24N2R from Georgia disagreed…5mos5MO

i think abortion is a great thing to have as an option, the "baby" isnt even developed it dont know anything. if a girl is assaulted and becomes pregnant she should not have to give birth to a child she didnt want.

 @9GZ5FH5 from Alabama disagreed…6mos6MO

The words "though not yet fully developed" prove the point of why women should be able to get abortions. This baby can not feel, can not see, smell, touch, etc. If a woman feels it necessary, they should be allowed to get an abortion.

 @9GZ2VVWProgressive from Ohio disagreed…6mos6MO

The mother has the right to bodily autonomy. We do not force people to use their bodies against their will such as forced donations of organs, etc and abortion is no different. The fetus is inside a host and that host has rights to self determination. Women are not cattle made to be bred.

 @9GYQ6LR from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

If the argument is to preserve the potential for life in the case of abortion, why are we neglecting to preserving the lives of the children we do have here? Multiple bills and restrictions preventing children from having a stable life and a safe environment, should we not improve those things instead of focusing on whether an undeveloped child should come into the world that is already on its last thread? A woman's decision on terminating a pregnancy does not physically affect anyone, boom! another abortion just happened somewhere in the world/U.S and I am still typing this unaffected,…  Read more

Women should decide whether they can get an abortion or not. it is their body and their complete decision weather they want to have one.

 @9GYMYR4 from North Carolina disagreed…6mos6MO

Yes it may seem cruel but their is terrible cases out their in the world that happens .Many of them are not even grown to have a child and some are in events that they cannot escape from .

 @9GYD3L2disagreed…6mos6MO

Talking about possible capabilities rather than guaranteed ones makes the argument rather irrelevant.

 @9GY9XVX from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

I think it is the person's choice If they want an abortion and you cant force them to keep the baby or get rid of it

 @9GY9TLP from Arkansas disagreed…6mos6MO

Y best counter argument is that when a "baby" is being aborted its brain hasn't even developed yet,it feels nothing,knows nothing,and sees nothing.the size of this "baby" is around the size of a golf ball.

 @9GY8RKWdisagreed…6mos6MO

While upholding the human rights of all people, born or not, is important, the constitutional right to freedom and the right to choose is more profound and sets a precedent for other rules to come. The issue of life is that, up until a point, life has not been created in the fetus. No human exists, feels, or lives until a certain point in pregnancy, at which point it should be illegalized to have an abortion.

 @9GY75DGdisagreed…6mos6MO

Shouldn't we prioritize making sure that children grow up in a place where they are loved, where they are wanted? No one asks to be born so that argument is basically useless.

 @9GY57GL from California disagreed…6mos6MO

The potentiality of a fully functioning child is a concept rather than something that is actually occurring, it is not physically fully functioning itself with its own cognitive mindset.

 @9GY47BD from North Carolina disagreed…6mos6MO

If society was strictly pro-life, think about this mother's circumstance. Thirteen-year-old girl, molested by her abusive father, poor, bullied, drug-addict mother, and depressed. Would you rather a child be born in this home, or terminated for it's own good? That's my take.

 @9GY3M8J from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

The pro-choice argument centers on the fundamental principle of a woman's right to make decisions about her own body, emphasizing personal freedom and autonomy. Advocates assert that the complexities of pregnancy, both physically and emotionally, warrant affording women the agency to decide whether to carry a pregnancy to term. This perspective underscores the importance of safeguarding women's health and well-being, contending that unplanned pregnancies can have significant consequences that impact various aspects of a woman's life. Proponents of choice view access to safe and…  Read more

It is more important for the mother of the child to have a safe delivery and be able to give birth to the child. As well as the fact that the mother may not have the funds to have a safe pregnancy she may not be able to forward the pregnancy as well, and if she can't afford the pregnancy then how can she afford to raise a child? There are many things wrong with our foster care system and the mother may feel that it is wrong to bring a child into the world if they cannot be supported.

 @9GY3LSZ from Utah disagreed…6mos6MO

The "possibility for life" is something that is often thrown around, but the reality is that we don't know if that child will live or die. We also have to consider the quality of life for the unborn child. Abortions are generally sought out by people who cannot afford a child, those who are victims of rape and sexual abuse, and young people who made mistakes and are in no state or position to raise a child. To boil abortion down to a "convenience" is highly reductive. Should someone who is raped have to raise the child of their rapist? Should the young 14 year old gir…  Read more

**** no, when the 'mother' could be at risk for some life altering changes due to an unwanted or even forced pregnancy, why is the life of an unborn, not even self aware fetus placed over the value of the woman's life?

 @9GY37KJPeace and Freedom from California disagreed…6mos6MO

Yes, I agree, but at the end of the day, it is the women's body. They get to choose what they can or cannot do. We never know how she got pregnant it could have been forced upon her and aborting it would be the only way of not having to see a child you where forced to have. This doesn't mean that aborting is good, but in some cases it is good in others not so much.

 @9GY334B from Louisiana disagreed…6mos6MO

No. If a woman feels she is not fit to take care of a baby, then the "potential life" that child will have if forced to deliver will be drastically worse vs. a child that is planned and wanted.

 @9H3JQCX from California disagreed…5mos5MO

We should focus more on the safety and life of the already living human being, the mother. Allowing an unborn fetus that cannot survive outside the womb to have more rights than the living mother just does not make sense.

 @9GYK7FC from California disagreed…6mos6MO

Let's say for example a young girl was raped and got pregnant later on, will this this be a pro-life decision? does she still have to take care of a baby at the age of 6-9 years old?. Pro-choice is what abortion should be, woman have the right to choose if they want the baby or not. On only one condition, if the two people decided to have a baby and then abort it then that is wrong but if the baby was not meant and the female was forced then she should have the right to abort it if she wants.

 @9H3FVPD from California agreed…5mos5MO

That's the dumbest question i have been asked in a while, Of course not, Your murdering babies, why not buy condoms in the first place, Women need to step up and deal with their problems fr

 @9GY3526Republican from Minnesota agreed…6mos6MO

I agree because even if it isn't born it still should have a chance to live because god has a reason for everything and there is a reason she is pregnant.

 @9H5KXJL from North Carolina agreed…5mos5MO

I agree. Biology tells us that life starts at the moment of conception so when the sperm fertilized the egg, a new human being is formed and should be protected. Exceptions to abortion are miscarriages, rape, incest, and If it endangers the life of a mother. If none of those apply there are millions of couples in the USA on waitlists to adopt a child because they’re infertile.
