Getting my family food and water, giving them a nice house, being able to make people happy would help motivate me.

Under a Socialist government the workers have no need to improve or develop anything better besides for personal enjoyment, thus leaving the nation cripplingly bankrupt for ideas. Nothing would ever get better and their would be no motivation.

If my basic needs were met, my motivation for doing work is because I want to work and have have my needs fulfilled, so working would be easier to handle.

"A Government That Is Powerful Enough To Give You Everything You Want Is Powerful Enough to Take Everything You Have." – Thomas Jefferson

Anything this Founder says essentially speaks for itself.

And a government regulated by the people works FOR the people. Which is why measures need to be taken to make it more Democratic and less corrupt via banning donations from corporations.

This seems unrelated to the Jefferson quote above. We're talking about size & scope of government, not whether it's democratic, aristocratic, monarchical, bureaucratic, or republican.

Who controls it tends to determine how trustworthy it can be. If we regulate it ourselves, it is us ruling ourselves, giving us the ability to make big government decisions without worry of abuse.

A government is a human institution that reserved unto itself the legal privilege of using force on innocent persons. No other institution can do this – no business, no charity, no other institution. Government alone may say "do as we tell you or we'll send people with guns, and chains to cart you off to prison. We'll fine you, imprison, perhaps even execute you if you refuse to grant us your unquestioning obedience." That is the essence of political power. And it does not matter if that power comes from the people, an aristocracy, or a hereditary monarchy, it is still political power and still equally evil and dangerous. That, I think, is the fundamental difference between us. You believe in unlimited political power so long as it is in accordance with the will of the Majority. I believe that regardless of what any Majority thinks, we have a Constitution, delegating unto the federal government 19 powers which it may never go beyond, even if the majority votes for that. You want to maximise power for majorities, some people want to maximise powers for minorities, my ideology, constitutional republicanism (with a lowercase "r") advocates the middle ground – maximise power forRead more

The possibility of making life better at its maximum possible effect. A person’s wants would be the main focus, alongside the benefit of their families and society. If one’s needs are met, then they don’t have to worry about surviving. That “hustle” mentality might actually have a use when not taken to extremes, in this scenario at least.

The (basic needs) benefits that come along with it. Working to provide the government with funding for basic needs such as health care.

if all of my needs were met it would come down to how I want the world to view me. I want to be seen as intelligent and hardworking, not pitied. Plus, there is more to life than just 'needs' there is wants. 'I WANT more' that's the way people are wired. The richest people in the world still want more money, they are motivated by how the world views them and how they want to view themselves. If all of my needs were met, I would have more time to work on school without fear of how much college is going to cost, so I wouldn't need my job right now which is extremely time consuming. I would have time to learn more for right now, so that I can have a good job in the future. In the end I would be motivated by how I want the world to see me, and how I want to see myself.

The needs aren't being produced out of thin air, that's what working is for. The only necessary motivation for working is simply because we need to in order to have anything to begin with. I work so that there are things to be provided with.
