Which political ideology do you most identify with?
Can small daily actions create a significant change in society over time?
I think a little goes a long way! It’s one thing to do something repeatedly but when others take notice and adopt this behavior themselves, that’s where it takes off. Take kindness for example. Having the basic human decency to do things like being sincerely and genuinely polite and considerate of those around you lets them feel better about you and their day. Often times when someone treats you kindly, you’ll feel good about that interaction because you feel seen and like you matter, and not in a way where you feel overly exposed because someone rudely shoulder-checked you or loudly berated you for something you didn’t mean to do. If you feel good, then chances are you’ll try to make others feel the same. In the context of politics, I think that spreading awareness about what’s going on and advocating for some course of action is most like this. Especially in an age where people can more easily be heard on social media platforms, by making a statement about a political issue and attempting to rally a community for a good cause, you can see some decent results part of the time. Take what’s happening with the recent uproar about the genocide against Palestinians. I’ve seen countless influencers make calls to boycott companies like Starbucks and McDonald’s who were actively supporting the IDF with supplies and thus supporting the Palestinian genocide. To some degree this worked but not everyone knows about what’s going on, is committed for long enough, or cares about what’s going on. It takes perseverance in talking about the situation and advocating for change by examples like boycotting to truly take effect.
