People don't understand "white privilege" because they are white themselves and don't see what happens to people who are white. It happens in other things too, like homophobia and other such forms of discrimination, they are the "privileged one" of that argument and don't come across what happens to people who are the ones being discriminated against. Because they don't see it, they refuse to acknowledge its existence and then when people bring it up they pretend it doesn't exist.

People who can't understand the concept of white privilege have never gone through those struggles that a minority goes through so they fail to see the importance of it. They believe there is no such thing as privilege since being handed everything becomes a norm to them.
