Things like NATO, the UN, they prevent the wars by threatening their aggressors with it if they try to attack, precisely the same way as normal nations in your social Darwinist thought process. International coalitions that keep the smaller ones alive doesn’t even ignore your own thought process, it simply moves it up to the level of coalition vs coalition instead of nation vs nation. America, while being extremely imperialistic in its economic sphere, is an improvement from what was around before, we can value national sovereignty of others while maintaining our own interests, all at the expense of being inside the international community, as is natural whenever you have won both World Wars and have the strongest military on earth. I’m not a dreamer either, that’s what happens right now, I’m suggesting what’s happening and working right now, because isolating our nation doesn’t make us safer, it just throws the issues of the future to the next few generations. China and Russia are working to phase us out of the world, and isolating will drastically hamper our ability to fight back should they ever decide to either bankrupt us economically or attack us militarily. If we do nothing, they take the world, and then we’re on our own.

On the list of geopolitical dumpster fires, Ukraine is one of the more decent ones, and as Russia conquering it gives them time to rebuild and then empower themselves, it is a direct threat to our allies in Europe, and perhaps another step towards our own demise in the long future. Military strategy is the side I’m referring to, with a combination of care for the people of nations in the crosshairs of conflicts. That’s FAR from being a starry-eyed dreamer.

The degradation of human nature starts with selfishness and pride, not with well meaning defense of allies. As we become more self-centered and prideful, so too will everyone else. If there’s any one way for humanity’s nature to crumble, it’s precisely by isolating and ignoring the world burning around us.
