How would you want your own story and background to be remembered and respected if you were to move to a completely different part of the world?

I don't expect to vote in a foreign country unless I become a citizen there. I don't know how I want my story to be remembered in the first place, but I would want to be seen as a respectful person either way. I expect some people would see me as a traitor, which would be unfortunate, but my reasons for making a move would be my own and likely would be the case if this nation becomes unlivable, as in I am seen as a second-class-citizen all of a sudden.
