No teacher should bring weapons into school. It only adds risks to students and staff. Some teachers get very angry sometimes, and if they have a gun, they may not only threaten but kill their students. A student could also get the gun and cause damage with it. The idea that a teacher could stop a rare active shooter situation by being armed is simply a hero fantasy fit for a cheap movie, not reality. We should focus instead on having a solid plan in place to get our students to safety and allow trained crisis response professionals to deal with the active shooter directly.
