If a man were to stab a woman’s belly while pregnant and the baby dies, but she survives, that man would be charged with the murder of that infant. Just because it is done clinically, it should not exempt from being statutorily classified as a murder. Furthermore, from an ethical perspective you’re taking away the future of someone who doesn’t have a say. Also, the studies suggest that the long term consequences of the abortion to the mental wellbeing of the mother are detrimental. The next argument would be that should a man get a woman pregnant, he is no longer able to have any executive decision about the continuation or termination of said pregnancy but instead must take legal responsibility for the child. Which transitions into my next point which is that the overwhelmingly vast majority of pregnancies are not a product of forced sexual encounters, but rather are consensual in nature. Therefore, why would a woman be allowed to be acquitted of the responsibility of the child if she decides to terminate the pregnancy, even against the wishes of the father? And even in the case of the baby being a product of rape or incest, why would this person be allowed to murder and take the life and potential from a living being for the sake of their own mental wellbeing? The raising of the child does not have to rest on the shoulders of the mother as there are plenty of resources available to have the baby given away to another family to raise. It’s pure selfishness and it’s evil.
