The Federal Minimum Wage was set as a living wage for peoples in the United States, but the goalpost for this initiative has been moved since its inception. People living within the United States (and worldwide, but we only have control over our own country) should be able to take care of basic necessities such as food, shelter, clothing and retirement savings without discrimination for their perceived workplace skills.
