There is no constitutional clause that defines what marriage should be, and most opinions and beliefs are based on religious doctrine, but separation of church and state should hold that these religious beliefs should no infringe on others beliefs and dictate the rule of law in the United States.

 @9G6G2HW from Arizona disagreed…7mos7MO

Gay marriage should be legal and valid. Gay marriage is the same as any heterosexual marriage just without only a man and woman. They aren’t hurting or bothering anyone by getting married. Gay marriage is based on love while homophobia is based on hate.

 @9GQW79Q from Kentucky disagreed…6mos6MO

Gay couples should be able to marry the same as a straight couple. Being gay does not affect the way YOU live. Just let them live their lives as happy as straight couples do.

 @9FQXSJTDemocrat from South Carolina disagreed…7mos7MO

What is the harm in loving someone the same sex? It does not affect or hurt other people and it should not bother anyone since it is not their business anyway.

 @97XT4J7 from Kentucky disagreed…1yr1Y

Respectfully, I have to disagree. First, I am wondering why you think this. Where is there a rule that says marriage can only be between a man and a woman? What's so bad about this that it effects your life so much that you think it should be banned? There is no difference between 2 people of the same sex getting married and 2 people of different sex. We are all human and all deserve to be treated equally. Please research further into the history and discriminiation of the LGBTQ+ community to really understand what they have gone through just that way they are allowed to love who they want to love. I mean, how would you feel if someone told you that you couldn't like who you liked just because of their gender.

 @WhatisaWoman? from Michigan commented…11mos11MO

There is a difference between men and women, even if you people don't think so. Also, God Himself says marriage is only between a man and a woman. Marriage is supposed to represent the relationship between God (the man) and the church (the woman).

 @HouseOfRepsHelperSocialist from New Hampshire disagreed…11mos11MO

I understand that some people believe that marriage should represent the relationship between God and the church. However, it's important to recognize that not everyone shares the same religious beliefs, and we live in a diverse society. For example, in Hinduism, there are multiple gods, and Buddhists don't believe in a supreme creator. Given this diversity, it's crucial to ensure that laws and policies are inclusive of everyone, regardless of their faith.

Additionally, while there may be differences between men and women, these differences should not be used as a basis for…  Read more

I believe in marriage between a man and a women. Your either a male or a female.

 @9GNF39V from Mississippi disagreed…6mos6MO

Marriage is a contract between consenting adults to merge financial, proprietary, medical, and other decisions, obligations, and responsibilities. The characteristics of these adults are irrelevant.

 @9GNK787 from Washington disagreed…6mos6MO

Marriage is an act which ties you to another person whom you love and binds you as family. Family is not defined by gender. If we abide by the Bible unquestioningly then we would find that there are many normalized things we are doing that are considered "sinful".

 @9GHLMVN from Minnesota disagreed…6mos6MO

We live in a country of free choice, if one believes gay marriage shouldn't be legal for personal reasons they should simply not pay attention to gay marriage, the only reason it should be an issue is if this marriage is somehow disrupting others or otherwise violating constitutional rights. If one believes gay marriage shouldn't be legal for religious reasons the government simply cannot put law into place based on that due to how it would be placing one religious belief above all others.

 @96W58S2Women’s Equality from Tennessee disagreed…2yrs2Y

are you mad that there's more gay male to male or female to female relationships then you being able to have one single happy marriage?

 @9FPLFXM from West Virginia disagreed…7mos7MO

The right to marry whoever you want is an inherent right that cannot be taken away. No one should be able to dictate who you can marry.

 @9FZ8QVK from Michigan disagreed…7mos7MO

What someone prefers in a relationship is no one else's business. They're doing what makes them happy and worrying about themself.

 @9FQ9QLN from Oklahoma disagreed…7mos7MO

The notion that marriage should only be between a man and a woman is a religious belief, which should not be enforced by the government. Marriage should be the union of two people that love each other, and the government should not follow the beliefs of one religion to determine what is right and wrong.

 @9GMBRRPIndependent from Massachusetts disagreed…6mos6MO

Why? What does the implementation of gay marriage do to the lives of others unless they are taking part in the gay marriage themselbes?

 @9G7625W from Tennessee disagreed…7mos7MO

This argument is rooted in religious ideologies and our country has a long history of heteronormativity. Same sex couples are entitled to the same rights as opposite sex couples as a separation of church and state.

 @9GZHBX8 from Virginia disagreed…5mos5MO

Everyone has the right to marry who they want regardless of their sexual orientation or what they identify as.

 @9GJ6WGP from Illinois disagreed…6mos6MO

There is nothing in the constitution that states that marriage is only between a man and a woman. Additionally, the only valid reason for someone to be against gay marriage is religion, and in America, we separate church and state. It is okay for someone to be against it, religious places such as churches can deny gay people entry, but they can get married.

 @9G2N4P6Democrat from California disagreed…7mos7MO

The definition of marriage is the joining of two people. If you love somebody you should be allowed to make a legal lifelong commitment to them.

 @9FLDYDTLibertarian from Ohio disagreed…7mos7MO

There's nothing wrong with, they aren't hurting anyone. I say if they aren't hurting anyone and they just want to love then let them love

 @9G38XQQ from Idaho disagreed…7mos7MO

Love should not be limited to just man and woman. Everyone has the right to be with whoever they want.

 @9FZL2DZProgressive from Arkansas disagreed…7mos7MO

The right to love/ marry whoever you want is inherent, meaning it can't be taken away. Marriage is the joining of individuals who genuinely love each other, it doesn't matter if its mlm, wlw, or any other varient. LOVE IS LOVE!!!

 @9FPTX96 from Illinois disagreed…7mos7MO

Marriage in and of itself, is an official mark of a relationship and nothing else. There is nothing that distinguishes a gay couple from any existing straight couple other than gender.

 @9GFYLGR from Maryland disagreed…6mos6MO

Marriage between two individuals should not matter on sex alone. There is no reason why two individuals should not be able to be married based on gender identity, since it only involved the two in the marriage who are both consenting adults.

 @9GH5P4Hfrom Maine disagreed…6mos6MO

At best, gay civil unions would be an unnecessary institution redundant to marriage. Worse, conservative would disadvantage gay civil unions compared to marriage. The only good way to avoid this is to make marriage available to homosexuals.

 @9FPFGQ5 from Florida disagreed…7mos7MO

Marriage simply means who you want to marry, you have no right telling people who they can’t and can marry.

 @9GFPDRJ from Illinois disagreed…6mos6MO

Marriage, as a government-based legal institution, is a legal contract that merges your finances and assets in a meaningful way and gives the other person primary control over your personal health and family manners if you have children. Your opinion of marriage as a religious institution is irrelevant to Marriage as a government-based legal institution. They aren't the same thing, and while I don't think religious leaders should be forced to perform ceremonies they aren't comfortable with- on a LEGAL level, as U.S. citizens, two people who want to enter a marriage contract together is a RIGHT and none of your business. Your opinion does not negate facts.

 @9GKBFCNdisagreed…6mos6MO

As long as you are in love, that's all that matters. Gay marriage is fine, there isn't a single problem with it.

 @9GNSTNR from California disagreed…6mos6MO

Why can two people who hate each other have more of a right to get married than two people who love each other?

 @9FL46TB from North Carolina disagreed…7mos7MO

Marriage is a formal commitment to love and live with someone for the rest of your life. It is wrong to deny this based on someone being gay.

 @9FSPXC9 from Rhode Island disagreed…7mos7MO

I think people who are so bothered by the idea that a man can love a man and a woman can love a woman can shut their mouths. Better yet leave the country. Every day new ideas, and beliefs are uncovered. How can you accept the moon landing, but not that gay people are people too?

 @9H37RX6 from Maryland disagreed…5mos5MO

That belief mostly stems from religious beliefs, such as christians using leviticus 18:22 as a reason for why gay marriage should not be legalized. Which completely goes against allowing religion to dictate laws,

 @9H2MKGR from Tennessee disagreed…5mos5MO

Everyone has equal rights and it doesn't affect you if a gay couple gets married. America is a free country and just because you don't believe that gay people can get married, doesn't mean you get your way.

 @9GJYSL8Republican from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

I don’t like people telling me what to do. You should be able to marry who you want. It doesn’t affect anyone but the two getting married.

 @9GX2R62 from California disagreed…6mos6MO

There is no law in the U.S. that says marriage must be between a man and a woman. What marriage should be defined as is the joining in matrimony of two consenting adults. The validity of a marriage should not be measured by whether the constituents are of opposing sex, but by the love the two individuals have for each other.

 @9GJBHPZ from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

Realistically, how is this affecting you? I understand that religion plays a part in this but if you are so worried about someone else's life, you should reevaluate yourself. If something goes against your beliefs then ignore it. if you can have respect for other religions, then you are capable of respecting people not conforming to the norm.

 @9FZJLKP from California disagreed…7mos7MO

Marriage is a declaration of love. If you believe love does not go beyond just man and women you can be proven wrong by facts of the past. The argument being made that marriage is only man and woman is purely emotional and can be backed by nothing except your own ideals.

 @9FJFYS9 from Colorado disagreed…7mos7MO

Marriage should be something that is consensual between two parties and outside opinions are unnecessary

 @9FLDMZDdisagreed…7mos7MO

Nothing is wrong with Gay Marriage, it's not illegal for a boy and a girl to like another boy and girl in their same gender.

 @9GMQP8L from Washington disagreed…6mos6MO

It's not your life, you're no marring the same gender you are, there is no reason why you care so much about someone else's love life

 @9GGJNT4 from New York disagreed…6mos6MO

No, marriage should be between two people who love, honor, respect and cherish each other, and heterosexuality is no guarantor of any of that.

 @9FZJG7M from Florida disagreed…7mos7MO

Marriage is a union between two people who are willing to commit to come as one. What one lack the other should have so they can consistently be in an equilibrium.

 @9FLLXLM from Missouri disagreed…7mos7MO

Love is love. That might come is a man loving a man, a woman loving a woman or a man loving a woman. Its all love.
