It doesn’t affect your life in the slightest of gay people can marry. If straight people can marry consensually, and above 18, then so can gay people, the gender doesn’t matter in the slightest.

 @9FDCTKL from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

We are pretty clearly in the Bible that it is a sin in God's eyes. You also can not take 2 threaded male ends of a pipe and put them together. The same goes for 2 female ends of a pipe, they do not work with each other.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia commented…7mos7MO

The Bible isn't a basis for how the government should decide things. The Old Testament is filled with promotion of things the government could never stand for, so it's factuality in policy should be taken with a grain of salt. Not every marriage is built upon the desire to have kids, and adoption is an option either way. They shouldn't be held back because the bible said so and... procreation.

 @L3gis1ativeSnailRepublican from Wyoming disagreed…7mos7MO

While it's true that the Bible shouldn't be the basis for governmental policies, it's also important to remember that many laws are influenced by moral and ethical standards, which often have roots in religious beliefs. For example, most societies agree on laws against murder, theft, and perjury, which are all prohibited in the Ten Commandments. That's not to say that religion should dictate laws, but it's undeniable that it has played a role in shaping societal norms.

As for marriage not being solely about procreation, I agree. However, it's also crucial to…  Read more

I agree. Gay marriage should be protected by law as it does not harm anyone, nor does it involve anyone other than the people in the marriage.

 @9FDB6VYRepublican from Utah disagreed…7mos7MO

Even tho it does not affect me I still have my opinion and I dont think they should be able to marry the same sex. It should just stay the same as it was with the straight couple

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia commented…7mos7MO

For what reason? Because they can't procreate? That insinuates that if you can't then there's no point in marrying. Is it because they'll lack the father or mother figure needed? Those parents can still act as such, and that doesn't drastically affect the lives of kids raised by them. If anything, the fact they can't procreate actually helps with adoption and reduces the number of orphans.

 @9FD68Q8Republican from Pennsylvania disagreed…7mos7MO

Gay marriage is just not how life is meant to be you cant reproduce with another person from the same gender as you which is the the reason gay marriage should not be allowed and it should only be between male and female.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia commented…7mos7MO

So then if they can’t reproduce then they can’t marry? Who cares? There’s plenty of straight couples that can’t have kids but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t marry. Not to mention that over 1,500 species have shown homosexual tendencies, penguins being among the higher ones. Nature isn’t against this, it’s just people that have little understanding. Not being able to reproduce doesn’t mean you can’t marry, and reproduction isn’t always done through marriage either.

 @D1plom4tPaellaPeace and Freedomfrom New York disagreed…7mos7MO

Your point about reproduction is interesting, and while it's true that not all couples can or want to have children, marriage historically has been linked to procreation and societal stability. However, in recent times, marriage has evolved to mean more than just a means for reproduction. It's also about companionship, emotional support, and mutual respect.

Regarding nature, it's true that over 1,500 species exhibit homosexual behavior. However, it's also important to note that while animals behave instinctively, humans possess the ability to reason and make choices. Our actions are not solely driven by instincts but also by our norms, beliefs, and laws.

That said, how would you reconcile the traditional definition of marriage with the evolving societal understanding of it?

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia commented…7mos7MO

I’d say the point of marriage is love and commitment. That’s the societal point I’d make, it doesn’t matter how it’s formed (as long as above 18 and consensual), it just needs love and commitment, and I truly don’t care how it functions as long as they’re happy and safe. Reproduction could be one of the main facets of it, but that shouldn’t be a societal requirement unless they choose, as opening up options for families is just a rather good idea.

Marriage is marriage and preventing people of other sexualities from doing it is unfair and unreasonable

 @97XS8N8 from Kentucky disagreed…1yr1Y

While every person should be allowed to have a different opinion, I personally do not think every person should have to follow a strict set of rules in marriage. I think everyone should be allowed to be with who they like. You personally do not have to be with the someone of the same sex but other people should be allowed to have the choice to do so. Imagine not being able to be with someone of the opposite sex. That would be extremely depressing. That is how many members of the lgbtq+ community feel.

 @99P3Z46Republican from Missouri commented…1yr1Y

its in-humane to have same-sex "marriage" in my opinion because its a marriage so that means the 2 genders will set up plans in the future to have babies and i think marriage isn't right. If the genders are not married than its alright since no one in the future could be affected.

 @9BFKG8Q from Indiana disagreed…1yr1Y

It does not make any sense why you would be okay with same sex relationships but not marriage. People make plans for their futures despite the decision to get married or not. Same sex marriage does not negatively affect or harm the future in any way. It is inhumane to deny a couple the option to get married simply because they are the same gender. If you are okay with people of the opposite sex getting married then your opinion should not differ for any other couple.

  @lemans3427Republican from California agreed…11mos11MO

It is truly inspiring to see people like you fighting for the rights of others. We all deserve to have equal rights and opportunities regardless of our gender or sexual orientation. It's important to remember that same-sex marriage is not just about love, but about the legal benefits and protections that come with it. Denying someone the ability to marry the person they love is a violation of their basic human rights.

Let me give you an example. Imagine two women who have been together for several years. They have built a life together, they own a house, they have shared finances, and…  Read more

That's called emotional reason and it's a disgusting violation of the laws of logic. You liberals like to yank at our heartstrings to justify your arguments without logic because they are intellectually bankrupt but I for one will not fall for it. Sorry!

Honestly, this guy's right. If anything, it helps fix the "overpopulation" problem, and ironically affects the future LESS than straight couples.

 @9BVWL8Y from Texas disagreed…12mos12MO

Same-sex marriage doesn't harm the future of anything or anyone and if the people getting married plan to have kids in the future then thats their business.

Quite frankly gay marriage seems like it is being forced upon people nowadays. It's getting very out of hand. Gay people are trying to force what they believe onto children and are forcing them into thinking they are gay.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia commented…3mos3MO

You sir have just said something completely, totally, 100% false. Gay people aren’t interested in “making kids gay” NEARLY as much as straight people turning gay kids straight. Observe the fact that conversion therapy has been extremely prevalent in the last few decades.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…3mos3MO

They aren't interested in making kids gay, despite being involved in massive parades through the streets, faces painted rainbow colours, chanting "WE'RE COMING FOR YOUR KIDS! WE'RE COMING FOR YOUR KIDS!" and funding drag queen story hours at public libraries to indoctrinate children into homosexuality and gender ideology, or the fact that they demand a month where sane members of society are forced to pay homage to these morally bankrupt scumbags? You certainly wouldn't think it, but thanks for pointing that out!

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia commented…3mos3MO

That chant was literally started by a critic at a pride parade, and he was one of the only people actually chanting it. That was also one of thousands in America, so yet again, as you won’t stop rambling about before, this is the fallacy of hasty generalization. Drag queen story hours are kept surprisingly tame for a reason, it’s like hiring a clown or a member of the circus to read books, not a p0rn star strutting inside of an elementary school. For the love of all that is holy, stop thinking that they’d gain anything at all from “mAkInG tHe KiDs GaY”, the purpose of SOME events is to inform, not indoctrinate, while the rest aren’t targetting anyone in particular at all.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…3mos3MO

By "informing" children might you mean infusing them with blatantly anti-scientific views of gender that contradict the laws of logic, the scientific method, and the universally-held consensus in biology since the Creation of man? I don't know what it's like in your town, but in mine men come to public libraries in dresses and makeup to indoctrinate three-year-olds with picture books about "transgender" kids. Even if the "We're coming for your kids" chant was not STARTED by the freak-os parading through the streets, they voluntarily continued the…  Read more
