Studies and statistics have shown that people are more likely to be shot, by committing suicide, accidental reasons or murder when guns are freely around and available for use.

I think it's a valid point, if teachers do choose to brings guns, they must be purely for defense and safely secured away from students or staff until a potential shooting.

Teachers should not be allowed to have guns at school, it creates such a high risk for those around them. If a student ever tried to take it, it could cause severe danger. Many may think that it would be a good thing for a teacher to have it in case an actual school shooter enters the building, but it is just not needed because if you have the gun out you might also be mistaken as a shooter. Also, teachers are not trained to use firearms which proves that it will only cause problems not fix them.

Its worth noting that there are places where teachers are allowed to carry firearms and receive necessary training. For instance, in several districts in Texas, the Guardian Plan allows teachers to undergo thorough background checks, psychological evaluations, and extensive firearm training to act as a last line of defense. This doesn't mean they act as law enforcement, but they provide an immediate response in the worst-case scenario.

I do not agree with teachers being armed at schools. Weapons should not be in learning institutions and if there is any form of threat then we should have outside forces take care of the students within the building. It is the job of the overfunded police to take care of us rather than teachers. We can have preventative measures to make sure a building or room is locked down but teachers do not need weapons such as guns to protect themselves.
On the note of guns causing more suicides than murders, there is a lack of gun safety and regulations. If a weapon is not secured then this will not pro… Read more

Despite the ideal of having a dedicated security force ready to intervene at a moment's notice, this is not always feasible. Response times can vary and in cases of immediate danger, every second counts. Trained, volunteer staff could provide a necessary line of defense.
In terms of gun safety, I agree, it's a significant problem. But wouldn't a part of solving this issue be better education about guns? This could include teaching about the dangers, safe handling, and storage of firearms.
You also mentioned more stringent regulations for gun buyers, but what about the law-abiding citizens who need them for protection? Higher prices and more rigorous interviews could potentially lead to bias and hinder people from protecting their families.
@9GBTRJP7mos7MO
if a student brings a gun to school with the intent of harming other student should at least be able to sit and wait in as classroom and if they have to be able to defend them selves and the students that are in that classroom with them
ok why the hell whould you have a gun in a teachers hand kids are stupid and can drive somebody mad in my opinion change lockdown drills becuse the shooters in the classroom and also crack down on bullying if you dont do anything about it hes going to hate the school and everybody in it im looking at you columbine
@9GBR8QK7mos7MO
I think this is a good reason as to why teachers should not be armed. It would also create more fear.
@9GBR7G2Peace and Freedom7mos7MO
I agree with these because often when a gun is seen and a person has the those thoughts, it can lead them to do something drastic.
@9GBRBPB7mos7MO
Yes that is true, however, teachers and other aids should not be allowed in schools. There is already enough school shootings in the U.S.
