To add of this, teachers might not be given sufficient firearm safety training to use their firearms responsibly. Furthermore, the knowledge that there is a gun in the classroom at all times poses a threat to the school as, if someone decided to shoot the school up again, they would know exactly where to go for a suitable weapon. On top of this, if teachers keep their firearm on their person at all times, students could feel less comfortable around teachers, teachers may hurt themselves or someone else in the case of negligent discharge, and they may still be overpowered by an attacker to get their weapon. If it is instead decided that teachers keep their firearms in their classroom desk at all times or when not present in the classroom, the second a teacher leaves their firearm unattended, it poses a serious threat to everyone in that classroom regardless of whether the gun is kept in a locked safe, in the desk, or on a high shelf.
