Could minimizing mandatory curriculum standards provide more room for creativity in the classroom, or would it be chaotic?

It could lead to both depending on where it is being held. It's better to have a looser curriculum for younger students and stricter ones for high school but still allow students to have their own creative freedom.

I do not see why these are mutually exclusive. I think it is very possible for an academic institution to foster both high curriculum standards and foster creativity.
